Brian Cook is a Canadian singer, songwriter and performer. He was born in Winnipeg in 1953 and grew up in Burnaby, BC in Canada. As a child he studied classical piano, then switched to guitar at age 13.  By age 16 he was writing songs and performing at his local coffee house.

Throughout the 1970s Brian taught guitar at Bill Lewis Music in Vancouver, a well-known guitar school while continuing to write and perform as a guitarist. In 1979 he recorded a collection of his solo guitar pieces, which he distributed to cafes and movie theatres in Vancouver; titled“Solo Guitar #1”. This recording caught the attention of A&M Records, and in 1981 Brian was invited to go to Toronto to record this album with orchestra. The recording was played on easy-listening music stations through USA and Canada throughout the 1980s. It’s now online, titled “Spring Celebration”.

Throughout the 1980s and ‘90s Brian continued writing and performing his solo guitar music, playing in coffee houses and restaurants in Toronto, New York, London. In 1992, while in London, he wrote and recorded a second collection of solo guitar pieces, “Solo Guitar #2”. In 1994 Brian fell in love with his future wife, Claudia and moved to Berlin, Germany, where he lived and worked for six years.

In 1999 Brian became a father. A year later, together they moved to Vancouver, Canada and Brian’s  music shifted to writing songs for his three children. Now that his children have grown up Brian is performing his songs for children at family centres and family festivals in Vancouver and Victoria. In 2023 he recorded his first collection of children’s songs, titled “Songs for Kids”, and continues today to write, record and perform new songs for children.
