Biography

Brian Cook is a Canadian singer, songwriter and performer. He was born in Winnipeg in 1953 and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. He started playing guitar at age 13, and shortly after fell in love with acoustic folk and blues guitar. By age 16 he was writing songs and performing them at his local coffee house.

Throughout the 1970s Brian taught acoustic guitar while continuing to write and perform. In 1979 he wrote and recorded a collection of solo guitar pieces, blending classical guitar with acoustic folk and blues. This recording caught the interest of A&M Records in Canada, and in 1981 Brian was invited to record his guitar music with an orchestra. The recording was played on Easy Listening music stations throughout Canada and USA throughout the ‘80s.

In the late 1980s he tried his hand at rock guitar, however he always fell back to writing and performing his solo guitar music. In 1993, while in London, UK he recorded his solo guitar pieces. It is a collection of soothing guitar music, titled “Solo Guitar #2”.

In 1999 Brian became a father, and his music shifted to writing songs for his kids. In 2023 he recorded a collection of his children’s songs, “Songs for Kids”. Brian lives in Vancouver, where he currently performs regularly at festivals and events for families.
